I guess my luck is going down hill, despite the effect of the Lunar New Year... Perhaps the effect of Lent is far more prominent than New Year  

Yesterday I finally resolved to travel all the way to Chelsea for my Vivienne Westwood earrings and the Chelsea Football Club, which turned out that the heart shaped earrings were no where to be found in The World's End store  Instead I bought another pair of much cheaper silver orbs earrings of 25GBP. Not so beautiful as the 40GBP heart shaped with orb engraving earrings but might somehow match my style more, anyway. Thus the Chinese proverb: "Master Choi lost his horse, god knows it is not a good sign?"  But then when I walked over to the Chelsea Football Club, intending to act a filial daughter, the official souvenir shop was closed  Then travelled all the way back to China Town with the intention to see what was on during the first day of Lunar New Year which turned out to be nothing  So half of my day was wasted travelling around with no avail  

And then when I set out to work to make up of the wasted time, to my horror I discovered there was almost no resources whatsoever on the net for Warren's presentation  I never thought there would be so little academic attention on the visual elements of Antony and Cleopatra  Nothing in individual sites, little useful stuff in Cleopatra cults, nothing in the library catalogue, nothing significant in the Web Gallery of Art, nothing in the V&A collection  No point going out to search when I do not even have an idea of where to start, so may just use Holbein's extremely irrelevant sketch, hoping no one would use the same one  

And then in the midst of a dream I was roused up by the fire alarm - 4:30am  Zaleha left her saucepan on the stove and went back to her room to surf on the net  When I collected myself together the flat was already filled with smoke, and as I rushed out Rose and Zaleha were already in the kitchen removing the burning - yes with flames - saucepan to the sink  The woman next door bang on our door and tried to use the fire extinguisher to put out the fire. And then she drove us out, as I went I knocked on Linlin and Ming's doors but no one answered. When we got to the common room Linin was there already (she did nothing but ran away herself while we were struggling in the kitchen???  ) And after some time Ming also came down... God it was not the first time she was so insensitive to emergencies. And her room is just next to the kitchen  Next time she certainly will get killed  Then, the firemen came... I guess they were thinking the same thing as me: what the hell is going on at this hour?  After all those alarms I finally got back into my bed, cursing my New Year's luck  

Of course my spirit was low during this morning's seminar because of the disrupted sleep. And I dropped my earring cap while playing with it during seminar  Oh why must everything be so drab these days? It's New Year...   I guess this luck is going to follow me as least up to Valentine's Day...
